Pars Oil & Gas Company announces president inaugurates two projects in Asalouyeh

Two petrochemical projects were officially inaugurated today morning in Assaluyeh in the presence of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi and a number of lawmakers.

The two projects include Kavian Petrochemical Plant and the first phase of West Ethylene Pipeline.

The 1200 kilometers West Ethylene Pipeline is the longest ethylene pipeline in the world while Kavian Petrochemical Plant is numbered as one of the largest ethylene producing plants in the world with annual production capacity of  2 million tons.

Bulk of Ethylene produced in Kavian Petrochemical Plant will be transferred through West Ethylene Pipeline to Andimeshk, Kermanshah, Kordestan, Mahabad and Miandoab petrochemical plants and the surplus will be sent to petrochemical plants located in Mahshar Especial Economic Zone south of Iran.

The second phase of Kavian Petrochemical Plant is due to come online next year after transferring gas from South Pars gas field phases 15, 16, 17 and 18.

1.5 million tons of ethylene will be injected to West Ethylene Pipeline annually of which Kavian and Morvarid petrochemical plants will provide one million tons and 500 thousand tons respectively.
