Pars Oil & Gas Company announces two petrochemical projects coming online

Two petrochemical projects will come online in Assaluyeh, onshore installations of south pars gas field, in next few days in the presence of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

NPC’s managing director, Abdolhosain Bayat made the remarks adding the projects include Kavian Petrochemcial Plant and West Ethylene Pipeline which are among the Mehr Mandegar (Lasting Kindness) projects.

Kavian Petrochemical Plant has already started up while injection to the first phase of west ethylene pipeline, as the longest ethylene pipeline in the world, is under way successfully, Bayat told Shana.

He continued: Production capacity of Kavian Petrochemical Plant as one of the largest ethylene producers in the world stands at 2 million tons per year.

Ethylene produced in Kavian Petrochemical Plant will be carried through West Ethylene Pipeline to Andimeshk, Kermanshah, Kordestan, Mahabad and Miandoab petrochemical plants while the surplus will be transferred to petrochemical plants located in Mahshar Especial Economic Zone south of Iran.

The first phase of west ethylene pipeline with 1200 kilometers length is made up 8 and 24 inch pipelines.

Building Kavian Petrochemical Plant is the expression of Iranian will and determination, NPC head said adding not only the plant was designed and completed by Iranian experts but most of the equipment used in project were manufactured by Iranians companies.

According to Bayat the second phase of Kavian Petrochemical Plant will come online next year after transferring gas from South Pars gas field phases 15, 16, 17 and 18.

Bayat noted that 1.5 million tons of ethylene will be injected to West Ethylene Pipeline of which Kavian and Morvarid petrochemical plants will provide one million tons and 500 thousand tons respectively.
